What is the place of medication and labels in therapy? What is one of the key ingredients in making therapy successful? In our Blue Heart session today, we’ll draw from Dr. Kixx’s story “Monitored,” to learn how therapist Rachel Stern challenges her team’s threat to medicate and commit her client, Erik. Rachel shows her brand of therapy is exactly what her client Erik needs to heal. Almost a hundred years ago, Australian bush nurse, Sister Kenny, like Rachel, challenged the rules and demonstrated that her controversial approach helped polio patients heal better than conventional methods.

Traumatic events are central in our lives. Dr. Kixx’s stories mirror real life. Characters confront painful traumatic issues and challenges. In The Promise, the main character Misty shows resilience and can heal and transform her life while Ned still struggles. In this Blue Heart session, Dr. Kixx draws from Misty and Ned’s experiences and puzzles as to why some people can heal from their grief to become happy and fulfilled, while others remain stuck or hopeless. We’ll be looking at steps we can take to heal, get the caring and nurturing we need, and achieve “post-traumatic growth.”

How can we be our best "inner coach"?
